When some people think of Self-defence, they think of fighting back but a large part of Self-defence has nothing to do with fight.
Let’s take SELF-DEFENCE apart,
SELF means your PERSONAL SPACE and all that occupies it – your body, mind, soul, spirit, emotions, health, asset, family etc
DEFENCE refers to your capacity or skill to effectively PROTECT something or someone from harm.
What is SELF-DEFENCE?
Self-defence is the COUNTERMEASURE that involves protecting one’s PERSONAL SPACE and general WELL-BEING from harm.
Self-defence is the act of safety and peace. It is a necessity for all 21st century parents, caregivers, teachers, and counsellor to effectively raise better leaders.
Every human being uses some level of safety skills daily without calling it self-defence skills. Self-defence involves understanding, and applying the basis of safety skills for wellness;
which contains being aware of your self and environment, to easily recognize changes, and exit points to escape (run) from dangers,
Being calm enough especially in frightening situations so as to make better decision,
Communicating with confidence using a confident voice and body language cos it’s not what you say but how you say it,
Trusting your instinct to walk away before friendly or intellectual debate gets physical.
I don’t need self-defence means I don’t want safety. We all need self-defence upgrade of the mind, spirit and body daily to continuously stay well and safe from harm.
